Umurerwa nominated for African Canadian model awards

Canada-based Rwandan model Happy Jacqueline Umurerwa has been nominated for the 1st annual African Canadian model awards.

Umurerwa claimed the spot after beating off stiff competitions from renowned models such as Aloud Anei, Berlange, Everline Aboka and Kimone Berwise.

The African Canadian model awards is organised by African Fashion Canada to celebrate and recognise outstanding achievement in modeling that represents the forefront of aesthetic, critical and advertising standards in today’s modeling industry.

The 2014 awards ceremony will take place on August 10 in Canada.

“This really means a lot to me,” Umurerwa says. “I am proud of myself and happy to know that someone out there is watching and appreciating my work. It is an eye opener for me and is just the beginning I still have a long way to go.”

From aspiring newcomers just starting out, to experienced models, the awards recognize the brightest talent in modeling with awards in different categories. In addition, winners receive international exposure, often resulting in professional modeling assignments and representation contracts.

Umurerwa began her career as a fashion model in 2010, when she was discovered by Ford models and has never looked back since then. She is currently represented by NEXT models and has graced several fashion shows around Europe and Africa.
